This May Hurt a Little. Tan by Injection? Welcome to the 21st Century

Posted in Uncategorized by sunscreensquad on August 1, 2008

The Barbie Drug

There is currently a study underway on a synthetic hormone called Melanotan, which stimulates the body’s natural melanin production to give a ‘suntan’ without sun exposure. Melanotan’s side effects include; increase in libido and decrease in appetite… hmmm. No wonder it has been dubbed ‘The Barbie Drug’. It is also being trialled as a treatment for rosacea.

Trials of Melanotan have yielded significant results. Added to the obvious effect of producing a tanned appearance, other results showed:

*Sunburn injury reduced more than 50% in fair skinned people

*Fair skinned people reported up to 100% increase in melanin in some areas

The dark pigment called melanin is the body’s natural defense against sunburn; However, the problem is that melanin production is stimulated only AFTER the skin has suffered a sunburn; In other words, there is no chance of a tan without first damaging the skin. Melanotan trials have shown the drug can stimulate melanin production without the sun. Sound too good to be true? There have been three different developments of the drug;

Melanotan Ireceived orphan-drug status in July 2008. The drug, being developed in Australia by Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd, may now be used to treat the rare genetic disease erythropoietic protoporphyria, which causes severe light-sensitivity to people with fair skin. Patients suffer intolerable pain, swelling, and scarring from exposure to light and often can’t go outside. It will be available as a slow release capsule about the size of a grain of rice to be implanted under the skin by a doctor.

Melanotan II – was already being sold as an injectable drug with a very long disclaimer warning that it was to be used for “research” purposes only. In August of 2007, the US Food and Drug Administration sent a warning letter to internet business, Melanocorp to stop the illegal sale of Melanotan II as it is currently an unapproved product making unsubstantiated claims that could pose a heath risk to the public. You can read the letter here.

Bremelanotide or “Passion” – was being researched as a nasal spray treatment for sexual disfunction in men and women but ran into problems because it caused unusually high blood pressure.

NOTE: The Pale Girl finds this injectable tan fascinating, but in no way endorses it or has any idea where to go to get it. If anyone has tried this drug, please comment on your experience!

    Hello.

This is a very good summary about Melanotan and it`s something I`ve been interested in for some time…

And I thought I`d just mention that the developers of Bremelanotide, a company called Palatin Technologies, gave up on Brem after the FDA rejection (at least as a treatment for sexual arousal dysfunction) but have a NEW treatment called PL-6983. It sounds like it is almost exactly like Bremelanotide but without the increased blood pressure side effect that the FDA cited for Brem.

If you`re interested, I made my name here link to a post on the Bremelanotide Bulletin that talks a bit more about the FDA`s rejection of Bremelanotide as well as info about PL-6983 and other such treatments in development.

    Ciao,

    Jennifer.

    Hi,
With regards to side effects of the drug melanotan II, it would make sense to assume that with the increase in melanin, and in the trials in animals shown, that your body hair should also turn darker??

    What do you think?

    Janine

    • holly said, on May 17, 2012 at 1:43 pm

i dont think this would happen as the hair is made up of keratin but it may be a possibility 😀

I have a couple of questions please:
I have freckles on most of my exposed body. If the freckles become darker wouldn’t you agree that this may be unsightly?
Would the freckles become lighter and darker based on the amount and volume of injections?
Would the freckles become lighter and darker at the same rate as the skin?
Would the freckles remain darker when the injections are permanently ceased?
    Thankyou
    Scott

I think with any new drug it’s important to research it in as much depth as possible and if you have any doubts whatsoever, the safest thing would be not to use it. Yet.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that you can never use it, but the most important thing here is that you should wait until it has been rigorously trialled and tested. I know in the UK, the rules for the cosmetic enhancement industry aren’t as stringent as those in the US, and until new drugs are FDA approved, it’s probably better to leave them alone for now.

Have you noticed any other side effects yet hana?

  9. sarah said, on December 18, 2008 at 4:11 am

I Have been using MII off and on for about 10 months. I started out on a large dose for about 6 months and would get nauseated and my legs would ache so bad. I also noticed decrease in appetite. I am now taking a small dose in the morning and that works better for me. I am blonde and have very fair skin. Blonde hair grows everywhere on me naturally and when I was taking the MII in pretty high doses I was growing black hair. It was soooo weird. haha.

I definitely had moles and freckles get darker. It was awful to me. Didn’t like that at all. I am still trying to figure out if any of them are new ones..I swear I have had a few new ones pop up out of nowhere. That would be my biggest complaint from it.

I noticed that I had better results from exercise. I was told by a doctor that increased melanin increases testosterone receptors…I guess that’s why I saw better results. I have also noticed how those of the African descent are so much more cut then those from other cultures. That would probably be why.

I ended up taking so much of the stuff at one point that my body and hair and face produced so much oil. It was insane!! I would put on makeup and I literally would look as if I had put none on 5 minutes later because the oil would make it come off like sweat..I ran into my mother at the grocery store around this time and she didn’t even notice me!! She thought i was a very dark spanish person or something.

At one time I think I had so much melanin that I was turning into someone that looked like was from African descent. Was insane! To be born a fair skin blonde and turn into something opposite was so crazy to me. I am not going crazy with the shots anymore but I got use to the nice tan that I can’t have it any other way… I am taking a short break because its winter but I am still using it occasionally. It’s just the damn moles that irritate me. I have so many to begin with. I must have like over 200 of them. Mostly flat and a few raised.

I also think that because I have such pale skin naturally I have more white spots on my legs and chest and arms because genetically I should have pale skin…There is a name for this prob..and it is usually because of too much sun..I guess to much melanin can cause same prob..and for someone with naturally pale skin.

If I could find something to prevent and get rid of these skin probs and these freckles and moles, that would be incredible! I tried a few types of blood root type of solutions but they leave scars. I just started some copper peptides and I am reading different things on it. Some good and some bad. If ya’ll know anything I could do let me know. THX

Your account is so interesting Sarah! I’m exactly the same as you as you! I have blonde hair, blue eyes and very pale skin! I dread going on hoiday and everybody commenting on how white I am and asking why I’m not tanning! I have had tan injections so far and have only developed more freckles and darker moles so far. I’m going on holiday soon and I’m really hoping I will tan this time. Can you tell me how much you inject, how often and where?

Has anyone who said they were interested in trying it started using it since? I’m really interested so wondered how it was going. The only think i am worried about is that i get white patches on my arms when my tan fades, the doctor just said its the pigment and theres nothing they can do, so was worried they might get even worse but when i go on holiday they tan, its just when i fade so i suppose when i’m using the injections they will tan too??

Does anyone know where to get them from and how much it costs?

When you get white spots use nizoral (anti-dandruff shampoo) on your body, rub it in that area and leave it for 3-5 mins then rinse. Repeat for 1-2 weeks then continue tanning. They should dissapear.

  11. skingenesishayley said, on January 30, 2009 at 11:22 am

Wow it’s so interesting to get such an in depth view Sarah. I know we have to try new things to progress in the medical world, but doesn’t it concern you slightly that MII isn’t yet FDA approved or deemed wholly safe for us to use? It’s good though that because you’re fair skinned, using it means you won’t have to sit out in the sun burning yourself damaging your skin. Keep us updated Sarah if you carry on using it!

    hi
My name is Jessica and was thinking about taking the MII but not sure on how to take it. Do I start off with large doses or small? I don”t want to od or anything. I’m not sure on how many times to take it as well. If I could get some opinions it would help out a ton. thanx

Hello, I think this may be interesting to your blog here.

Wired Magazine has just published an extensive article on the melanotan peptides:

They cover Clinuvel having received FDA approval to conduct human clinical trials with melanotan one, “afamelanotide”.

i was using this for a while and went on the sunbed a couple of times like it said to do on the leaflet. I did go darker which was great but i did start to get a lot more freckles and moles than usual an my body hair did go darker (but not purple). It made me ill on the days that i took the injections an was sick lots so i stopped using it an the freckles that did come out have now gone, just like what normally happens in the sun. It is now illegal in the uk but i dont know if it’s still bein sold.

  17. Sam said, on February 23, 2009 at 4:38 am

You guys are not taking this right. Almost all of the people getting sick from this are either taking to much or not handling it properly, such as using bad bac water.

Don’t take to much, people OD on this stuff there is no reason. You need around 30mg for your maintenance. Most people take .25mg to start then up to .50mg then to .75mg then finally 1.0mg until you have reached 30mg. After that you just take 1mg a week.

For best results take 20 minutes before hitting tanning bed. This stuff is amazing though, I am no longer terrified of getting skin cancer

    • natural said, on December 17, 2012 at 8:19 am

good god mate!! im quite sure that when cancer does happen, you wont be saying that anymore, youre feeding your body with so much melanotan, even if its small dosages, its eventually going to push out something more vigorous than moles, when you expose yourselves to the sun your skin will be even more fragile, seriously should wait till its tested properly, dont head for the quick fix

  18. Phil said, on March 7, 2009 at 9:54 pm

I have used MII for about a year. It is great, helped my psoriasis and rosacea and given me a great tan. In winter I go to tan booth for 10 minutes only once every few weeks. Tan will last for months without getting sun. I use .5 mg every 3 days for manintanance. When I started I used .5 mg twice a day for 30 days, that is 30 mg total over a month. Mainantaince only costs about $25 a month.

Hi I have been taking the injections for a few weeks and have encountered lots more freckles all over my body. Does anyone know if they will dissapear after stopping the injections?

  23. sarah said, on May 17, 2009 at 8:46 pm

I was taking like .5 at night and got sick and kept me from sleeping well–so I was tired all day the next day. I noticed that when I took anything over .1 I wouldn’t feel the greatest. Oh, and I learned if I take that much I should do it during the day so that I am not kept up.

I have quit using it for almost 4 or 5 months. I got sooooo many flat moles everywhere. Makes me nervous–hope they do not turn out to be cancerous later. I use to have maybe like 25 and now I have like 200 or something. Scared about that. That is too many to always be checking out every now and then.

I also noticed that I had a lot of of white spots(lack of pigment) on my legs and arms. Another thing that I did not like was that all my sun damage from early teen years of sun exposure were showing up earlier than it should have. I am only 28 and all the sun damage that popped up from it should have popped up like 20 years from now. Now I am going to medical spa to take care of all that. It’s getting better but I am still annoyed about it. Oh well–I like to be the mad scientists that experiments with myself lol.

When I did my injections I always did them in my abdomen area. If you type in google under images or videos—how to do insulin shots in abdomen–or something like that–you can just follow that. You have to be careful where you poke yourself because you could hit a nerve or blood vessel. Oh and by the way, both are very painful!! Learned that from experience. The company I used was Purepeptides. I am sure you can just google it in. They will not sell it to you though if they think you are going to use it on yourself because of it not being FDA approved for human use.

Oh and folks–I have been very sick feeling lately and my husband who is a doctor ran a heavy metal challenge test on me and I found out that I have lead and aluminum poisoning and elevated mercury and nickel. I may have got the lead from my mother’s house that was built before 1930. I also use to use a lot of aluminum foil too. I am still not completely sure of where I actually picked these heavy metals up. I did wonder if they could have been from the injections. You never know. So I am just staying a way to be safe rather than sorry.

I am now on this 6 month detox to get rid of the poisoning. I have to stick this damn suppository up my behind every other night. Sorry if I am giving you a bad mental image lol. Believe me though–it is a royal pain in the a$$. So be careful folks. I will probably wait now for the clinuvel trials to be finished and be approved by the FDA. Hopefully the company will work out all the cons that I have experienced. Until then, no more for me. I am done being the lil mad scientist =)

    • Ness said, on September 24, 2012 at 1:37 am

There is a product called CH77 that gets rid of all heavy metals in the body in a couple of weeks. 🙂 Much easier than 6 month detox. I got it through my natropath.

    Hi all!
I’m really interested in these tanning injections and have been considering using them for a few weeks. I am a fair skinned brunette and do have loads of freckles already, which is the only thing that would put me off having them. However, its important to weigh up the pros and cons and it appears to be the safest way for people such as myself to get a nice tan without all the skin damage, im just abit jubious about injecting myself as I wouldn’t have a clue what I was doing or what dosages to take. I think theres a risk with everything we do and regardless of how you go about tanning yourself your at risk. I go on sunbeds and they do nothing for me but the damage is there, so I think Id rather use the injectiions and risk the side effects because at least it works.

  25. sarah said, on June 7, 2009 at 6:38 pm

iam 25, started at 23 stopped taking it after a while as i was getting various moles and freckles on my body which i didnt have not one before starting the treatment. i did follow the instructions properly to the T. after a perod of time when i saw more moles developing i got worried and went to see a specialist, i was told they were cancerous and to stop using it immeidiatly, i have no cancerous genes in my family so be warned it not what they seem thats why its diffucult to get your hands on them and when you do it cost. remember Pharmaceutical companies are money hungry and there are side effects may not be now but later on even the companys do not no what the exact side effects are.i was lucky to find out in time. So take your time researching before you try.

    Hi there…

Now, as interesting as this injection seems, and as interested as I am about using this as a fellow super pale person (auburn hair, freckly and ridiculously pale!)…is no one concerned about how everyone that’s used it so far is noticing the amount of freckles and moles they are developing and how sick they feel? Personally, I’d be slightly concerned about that. Who’s to say they won’t become cancerous?

If you’ve been pale for your whole life, waiting a little while longer while this drug is approved (or not) won’t hurt, have a little common sense…just do some serious fake tanning in the meantime!!! I’d recommmend xen-tan!

The girl above stated that after taking the injections she developed more moles, as has everyone who’s injected this. But she then went on to say that after seeing a doctor she was told these moles were cancererous? Well I don’t beleive that for a second! Because i don’t think you’d be messaging on here if you had 50 or more moles that had turned into melanoma, because you’d be in hospital having treatment with all sorts, the doctor does not send you away with rotten moles all over your body. Not to mention, the media would be all over this!! “New tanning drug causes massive case of cancer in woman” absolute rubbish.

It’s a fact that moles appear through your entire life, melanin probably just increases this. I even had a raised mole on my finger that just arrived one day. Three weeks later I cut through it on some sharp metel and the thing came off with my scab!! so don’t panic. I have had 2 moles removed that were suspect. Keep going to the doctor every couple of months as they apear just to be sure, if there are any that they feel may be melignant then they will whip them off. I even have a tatoo that runs through one and that bloody shrunk! I think people worry too much. You’ve got more chance of getting colon cancer if you injest a bayleaf than getting skin cancer from this drug. Yes, Bayleafs are cancer causing leafs!! ha ha, well, check it out anyway don’t take my word for it.

I am planning on taking the drug come the winter, If I break out in skin cancer you’ll be the first to hear about it. But apparently I’m at risk of lung cancer because I smoke, Skin Cancer because I use a sunbed. Throat cancer because I binge drink, Kidney cancer because i’ve used cocaine, Colon cancer because I eat junk food, and even bone cancer on my shins from years of impact from Thai Boxing……..not to mention all the other cancer risks!!!! I’m taking it because statistically I shoule be dead anyway, by cancer………..utter bobbins!! Tantastic baby.

    • stacey casey said, on September 4, 2009 at 8:49 pm

yes it will work as im exactly the same as yourself ive tried everything from lying in the sun working my way through the factors from 50 to 10, ive used sunbeds the lot and still snow white, then along came the injections and 3 weeks later ive got salo skin just waiting to go dark as soon as i start hitting the sunbeds.
its fantastic for us we can finally get tanned skin who ever invented the stuff is a genius.

  32. Carly said, on September 22, 2009 at 11:57 am

I was thinking about doing tanning injections then decided against it from what everyone says there is side effects which aint worth it. I understand why people want to do it as its a quick easy way and because some people are really pale and hate it but why not rubb on gradual suntan lotion on every other day. That dont harm you at all and you get a great all over even tan, if you keep putting it on it wont fade or get patchy.

  33. sarah said, on October 30, 2009 at 2:59 am

I will never use these injections again because they are not FDA approved and for good reason I am sure! I found out that my sis who lived in same house did not have lead poisoning. Soooo that means that I most likely got lead poisoning from probable doses of lead in each shot. In fact, I was making good scores in school and when I was taking the injections, I noticed my grades started to decline! Lead is horrible for the brain and can cause permanent brain damage and brain cancer in long run. Basically it can cause retardation and adhd! The list goes on…just look up the symptoms of lead poisoning. You will be amazed especially if you have the symptoms from the usage of the tanning injections. I guess one can’t trust fda anyway..because look at the mercury content in all those vaccine shots and the swine flu shots!!! Newborns today are loaded up with more shots of toxins today then 15 or 20 years ago. Either it has something to do with population control or someone making some serious dough…I’m just saying!! Well I am pale again and proud of it! We pale people have something to be thankful for if we put on sunscreen. We stay looking younger much longer than these that tan their skin to a leather oblivion! Its disgusting. My grandmother always had light skin and avoided the sun rays and she looks 20 or 30 years younger than most her age. Her skin flawless without the nasty sun damage and leather skin. Her skin is almost better than mine…seriously!! It is so smooth. Smart woman! Well I guess..She smoked and drank and still looks young! It is amazing how much we age from the sun or melanin. Now that I have been off the shots for a year I have noticed that my sun damage that I had got from the shots has went away almost completely but I am going to have to do some laser work still =(
Diversity is awesome and we should be proud of each of our heritage. All of us are beautiful whether black, white, and so on. Lets avoid the skin cancer and lead poisoning folks. Be happy with the way you came to this earth! That’s what is sexy..being yourself and being proud and confident and not harming yourself. Life is too VALUABLE for us to f it up on a media-influenced idea of perceived beauty.

I totally agree! I stupidly started with the tan injections today and I’m not going to continue because of your blogs. At first it seems like a good idea but I’d rather not bother with huge moles, freckles and white patches all over my body, not to mention lead poisoning!! I’m going to continue with high factors and xen-tan.
Thank you for saving me from what sounds like hassle I don’t need xx

i read the posts on here, and just by simply googling Melanotan you can find the drug being sold in Australia and Europe, and ship to USA even. but i did more research and found why some of you may be having problems with moles “changing color” and growing in size. i checked out the original Melanotan company (epitan, name now changed to: clinuvel) according to wikipedia Melanotan (I and II) sold online are illegal, and not actually the real drug actually named “Afamelanotide” and these impostors can cause these increases, color and size changes in moles.

i would not say that the product is a bad thing, but simply that you may not be buying the legitimate product online. you have no real guarantee. i would say go to a dermatologist and ask them about it. because you cant trust the internet and the claims they make.

I have used Melanotan 2 before…and am currently taking my second course.

This is an absolute wonder product…i could previously NEVER tan..and i mean never, and as a male, couldnt really use fake tan products.

With this product i get a great tan, and after the first few administrations the side effects are non existant.

The increase in melanin also causes body hair to darken (facial hair anyway). Im yet to notice and difference in my head hair.

When the FDA approve this…fake tan companies will go out of business…and the company that sells it will make billions

    So i was wondering,
i’d be inclined to freckle though i’d never ever get a tan. if i stay out of the sun, im relatively freckle free but if exposed to the sun i would get a load.
People have been saying that they get loads of freckles with MII, but one person mentioned that with the injections you just turn sallow, then when you hit the sunbed the tan comes out.
Now i wouldnt mind being very sallow and not tanned, like an olive skinned person in winter, so if i just took the injections, but didnt bother with the sunbeds would i turn sallow but without the masses of freckles?
This is important as i would feel awful covered in noticeable freckles, but having darker skin would mean the world to me as i am currently limited in life, i couldnt go swimming or to a gym as i am constantly covered in fake tan 365days a year and i would look awfull without it, i literally wouldnt leave the house without a tan as its so important to me, but im sick to death of the limits and work involved in constant fake tan. i want rid of the fake tan but can’t deal with my pinky blue tinted pale skin.

  41. Peptide said, on May 8, 2010 at 3:28 am

Doireann, MT-2 is not for you (imo). It will not make your melanocytes kick out pigment not appropriate for your genetics. If your melanin is more red and freckly, it certainly will not look olive or like common sunless tanners unfortunately. Without sun and dedication you would indeed be throwing caution to the wind with your skin

The additional pigmentation allow them to be able to lead more normal lives.

What an extraordinary variety of responses – greatly insightful for me. I am a brunette and love to be out in the sun and have never been one to want a tan. I do like having a tan however. There’s no denying that wonderful feeling after having been in the sun when your skin tingles and you have a healthy glow to it. Sun-kissed cheeks and all!
I don’t like the increased number of freckles that appear and definitely don’t like the moles, especially with lots of skin cancer incidences in our family. So I am careful in the sun, wearing sunscreen that is natural, with organic ingredients. I also make sure I get some time without protection to get some of that excellent Vit D.
I really can’t imagine myself going to the extreme of taking an injection in my abdomen for an accelerated tan, but I hear you all and believe MII, or advancements on it, will be around for a while still!

Hi, I tried melanotan 2 about 2 years ago.
I am blonde with very pale freckly skin, i was in love with the product as I have never been so tanned in my life but i was getting very dark freckles and moles all over my body and some that were raised.
This was really concerning me so I went to the mole clinic here in Australia to get checked out as i was particularly worried about one on my foot which was black and raised, they used like an ultra sound stick of some sort and go over each
mole and it is able to measure the melanoma risk levels in each mole. most of my lighter ones came back with levels of between 2-5 this was quite normal but my darker ones were coming up with a reading of between 8-9 which is is on the high side but the black one on my foot was really worrying to the doctor with a reading of 13 which is very high.
He told me to stop using the product and come back in 3 months for a follow up.

On my follow up the one’s that were between 8-9 had decreased to a normal level of between 2-5 and my black one was fading and had now gone to a level 7.

I had another 3 month follow up and all my levels were in normal range.

I’m no doctor and he had never heard of the product I was using so we were both unsure weather or not these were cancerous moles but he said if he had found these moles on a person not using any product he would have booked me in to cut the one out on my foot and kept monitoring the levels of the other ones that were on the high side.

I am very envious of people that can tan naturally and would love to have kept taking the product but at what cost to my body and health???

Until there has been more testing done and it has been approved I would be very wary about taking it and would encourage anyone with any worrying moles to go to a sun clinic and get your levels checked out.

It can make you a little sick to the stomach if you jump up on the milligrams too fast.
I find http://www.aminooutpost.com to be the best.

I had my first day in the sun today which is day 6 on the injections and i have noticed more freckles and the start of my tan, i was only in the sun for one hour ! I have skin type 3 though so i am quick to tan. I am taking these because i prefer to not expose my skin to the sun as much as i have done in the past. I will keep you posted!

ive taken m2 for over a year now any take a couple of different makes,, i dont find it to be as bad as many people make out. Its a tiny needle and should be taken in small doses, i take 0.1 mg once a day for ten days the 1 every 2days for 2 weeks then once a week to maintain. People that take more than this dose tend to feel sick dizzy and sometimes will vomit this is because u have overdosed i dont know who or where u get this high dose info from but its ridiculous!!!! Be smart abt this and research properly u have to know what ur doing in order to do it correctly!!! Ive not had it over the winter so i have started the loading period again. I have had a few moles develop and have had them checked out and they are just normal moles. Until proven otherwise m2 will also be critisized so the best way to research and to be sure this product is for u is to ask people who have actually had it and are being truthful in what they tell u! I am open to offer advice no probs just email me nikki-booth@live.com x

I love it! I am fair skinned and it usually takes me a month of tanning in a tanning bed to get a base tan. I used the injections for a week and couldn’t really tell anything, but when I went to the tanning bed, I was tanned (very nicely) in less than 2 weeks. .. My son used it solely without the tanning bed and it took him a month of injections to get a really good tan.

i’m on to my 5th loading dose, i cant tell any difference yet! im talking 10 units per day. is this enough? i inject into my belly and it stings for a few minutes and it very uncomfortable.. the women i bought it off advised me not to on the sunbeds for the first week but i am disapointed with the results.. is there anything i can do to enhance the results? will going on the sunbeds for 6 minutes improve the results?

  58. nikki said, on April 12, 2011 at 1:36 pm

hi lydia u wont just yet so dont worry its working but with all things it will take some time id say after ur second week u’ll see some difference id suggest sen beds after the 14th day huni, can i just check what it says on the bottle? and u should have been given a leaflet to show when to use sun beds and how much to inject and when xxxxx

    • lydia said, on April 14, 2011 at 7:28 am

the bottle doesnt have a label on, i bought it off a women who used it all the time. she suggested that it would take 10 days to see a result, and said to go on the sunbeds after a week, i went on for 6 minutes then 9 minutes the next day and my body and face have changed colour slightly but i think thats because of the sunbed, i have just had my tatoo removed with laser treatment and they said that i cant go on the sunbes for atleast 4 weeks til it is healed properly, so im hoping the injection it self will make a difference. my friend started using them a week after me and she is worried because her lips have started to go darker! is this normal? i’ve started to get freckles on my face, is that anything i can do to prevent this from happening?

      • nikki said, on April 14, 2011 at 11:48 am

to be fair huni u really shouldnt buy it with out a label, ive had a friend of mine buy a bottle with out a label and its gave her really bad rashes everywhere i buy mine from a man who owns a gym by my house hes a very trusted friend of mine and he supplies all the body builders before the shows…. mine clearly stated what it was and came with an instruction leaflet also clearly stating the company name…. if u dont mind me asking where are u from? i could maybe speak to him abt u paying via paypal and him sending u some…. as for ur friends lips thats normal for some people.. everybodys hormones are different so when u inject the malanin it will react different, for me it makes my lips go dark ,to tell ur friend to inject alittle less the needles u should be using should say 0.1 0.2 0.3 and so on upto 1ml so u should only be injecting 0.1 tell her to inject just under the 0.1 mark. and feckles cant be helped huni neither can moles. the freckles are nothing to worry abt but watch the moles if any get sore or big/bigger see ur doctor as u must monitor it!!! hope to hear from u soon x

This is scary, what we do to try and make ourselves look better, or think we look better, as I can assure you that I know someone using this drug and she looks terrible, certainly not healthly at all. Think about this and do more research, you really have no idea what the real side effect are as yet, once known it just might be too late………….

  69. keekaboo said, on August 13, 2012 at 8:00 pm

I started taking this 11 days ago. Those of you who feel sick are really just overdosing. You want to start off with 0.25 on day one then 0,5 on day two then 0.75 on day three the on to 1 on day four. That way you are easing yourself into it and not just firing stuff into your body that it doesnt recognise. I can honestly say I have NEVER felt sick one tiny little bit. The only side effects I have had is that stretching feels amazing (weird) and a few freckles have come up which is really just hyperpigmenatation and I’m hopfull they will dissapear when the tan eventually does.

Ok so now on to the tan. I am very pale, I mean VERY pale and have dark hair with blue eyes. I can honestly say I have never had a half decent tan in my life and I also worked abroad for months and people actually said to me ‘oh when did you arrive’? :O But I have now had 3 sunbeds (which I probably started too early to be honest) but can believe how dark I’m getting. I mean, I say dark- it’s more of a very strong golden colour but dark to me. My belly especially. The only thing is my legs never tan normally and I hav’nt actually noticed much of a diffirence now either but I’ve been told to that after about 3 weeks is when you will see the best results so It’s still early days.

Another problem is that my lips are getting dark patchy spots on them, however I’ve recently had lip fillers done so It could be down to this or it could be freckles (i cant really tell yet), either way it hyperpigmentation which is a very common side effect so to deal with it I always wear lipstick which I wear anyway. I’m hopeful they will go away. If there’s anyone more experienced and this has happened to them please let me know.

One other thing I have noticed is that My t-zone is getting very oily (which i hate) I am the ultimate powder queen! But I would presume that after a couple of weeks not using it this will hopefully go away.

I think that if this was a lethal drug, in no way would so many people be taking it and still be ok. It’s been going through 18 years of research now so if it was going to do the damage surely it would be done by now to someone at least? It’s at your own risk guys but for me being so pale and pasty it works.

    I will keep you updated

All my friends are on the melanotan 2 injections so I tried them. STAY AWAY from them I took them for 10 days total n got a really good colour. I got the nausea n the appetite loss and the increase in libido all the classic symptoms which I could live with. However, they don’t tell you the other more serious effects to start with I got my period twice in 1 month 2 wks apart n I’m usually regular as clockwork, after takin the jab the period was practically neon red with lots of clots. I started to get a bit wary but continued. I made a decision to stop the jab after ten days n then the real trouble started the panic attacks, shortness of breath n now writing this I’m sittin by the fire ina full tracksuit and heavy coat chilled to the bones and later on tonight ill be sweating to death in bed its the same everyday it’s a nightmare. I’ve never ever been so sick in my life as I have been the last few wks they definitely destroy your immune system. I also got a huge purple bruise on my chest which was directly related to the jab my right arm has come out in loads of white blotches like if u were wearing fake tan n some rain drops hit the tan it looks awful. I’ve been very very depressed for no reason also n now I’m so angry that I even took it I have children that I shuda bin thinkin of n I mean it when I say there have been nights the last wk when I literally thought I was gonna die.
So ppl think very very carefully before doin the jab the tan is lovely but you might have the same reaction as me for some they’re fine in the short term but they’re after ruinin me n that’s the truth Im off to the doctor again now with septic tonsils !!!!

    Hay,
I used to use melanotan as an alternative to the sunbeds, I went very very brown and gained a lot of freckles that I never had before then I started noticing the odd freckle in very unusual places in between my toes and in the rim of my bottom eyelid and on my lips nothing horrid just strange. I became pregnant and stoped using the injection for obvious reasons my freckles haven’t disappeared but when I do go out in the sun I tan way faster than I ever did before so Iam not 100 percent sure if it ever leaves the body. And as for higher sex drive lol that one wasn’t a side affect I experienced.

Hi all so I am very fair skinned i burn freckle and peel no tan, i also suffer from eczema which has caused me to stop doing soray tans as i go very patchy i went on M2 and I am loving the results although have had numerous side effects the first week of injcetion .5 daily i had bad stomach aches and what felt almost as cramps i started injecting just before i went to bed and found this much better, my sex drive has gown through the roof. i noticed within the first 3 days freckles on my face darking however not all of them did just a few and about a week later the tan kicked in and it became less noticeable. I however found that my lips went a purplish colour and the inisde pigment changed from pink to a real dark purple looked as if the inside of my lips was burnt, this side effect did not go away for me. I found within the first 4 days of taking this that my scars went from pink to a brownish tone which did not concern me at all. week 2 off .5 daily injections i had extreme headaches after researching decided to have 4 days off injections which stopped this happening once i reached my ideal colour took me 3 vials 30mg i was at my ideal colour my freckles were not dark as this is what i was scared of my genitalia did go a darkened tone and the lips a purplish tone however did not concern me n my bf who also takes injections n is of fair skin and red hair did not notice until i asked. tip for use is to move injection site if you only inject into your stomach you will find this area goes much darker than everywhere else thighs n biceps r good sites for injections too stings a little but if get nauseated from drug this is also a technique for dealing with it my partner found this to be true.

BEWARE! It is dangerous to DYE yourself from within, and that is what you are doing with this MAN-MADE chemical. The manufacturer does not want you to know this.

Hi I’ve taken these tanning injections for 7 days and have been on the sunbed twice. I’ve stopped completely because my face looks a weird greeny purple colour. My lips are brown with dark brown marks on the inside. I have brown marks all over my face face, huge dark circles under my eyes and purple marks around my mouth where I previously had a chemical peel which burnt in that area. I look hidious and I get married in 5 weeks! Does anybody know if these effects will go away as the tanning injections wear off?
    Thanks
    Kelly

Hello! I’m holly and I have used MII multiple times, and it works wonders! But for anyone wanting to use them, use them correctly! It should be a 10day course. You put in 1ml a day, through a thin syringe, into your stomach! DO NOT INSTERT INTO VIENS!! This will not make you tan quicker! Try to take the injection around the same time every day. To avoid the sick feeling side affect, take travel sickness tablets! Take tablets as advised (eg; if the pack says take two tablets two hours before traveling, then you take two tablets two hours before your injection!) I have never had bad side effects because I take travel sickness tablets, but sometime stings when injecting (mainly because I don’t like injections!) freckles and moles look darker and you may get more freckles and moles, but nothing to worry about! Tan starts to show half way through the course (5days) and you will be protected from the sun and are highly unlikely to burn! I get mine for £40 which is how much they sell for anywhere in The London surroundings, but just as a heads up.. The MII is a powder looking substance, but you need to mix it with 10ml of water injection and keep in the fridge once made up!
    Hope this helps everyone!

I’ve been taking melanotan 2 for a week now and not seen any change although I get really nauseousvright after it and have been getting a sore tummy off it like when I sneeze/cough it feels like I’ve pulled something I’ve been taking 20 units once a day before I go sleep should I be taking more?

  86. amber said, on April 7, 2015 at 5:06 am

I may or may not take this. I have polymorphic light eruption… aka i’m allergic to the sun. Genetic. This is what i’ve found to work best for me. It does make you feel sick for a little bit after injection but it works well. My reaction has decreased and it does spin my libido into high gear but I haven’t had any effects on my appetite.

I take MT2 and I LOVE it. I’ve been on it for less than 2 weeks, have tanned 4 times in a 9 min stand up and have seen a significant change. My skin typically doesn’t burn and I do tan nicely, however I hadn’t started tanning for the summer season so it was a good way to ensure it was actually working. I started my dose at .15mg typically the dose is .25mg. The standard loading dose is 1mg HOWEVER I have never dosed over .75mg and I’ve actually started skipping doses to EOD or E2D now at .25mg to.50mg. My first dose I was nauseated and had hot flash, however I inject into my stomach and haven’t had an issue since. The only other side effect I’ve run into is oily skin. But I don’t notice it as much when I keep my dose on the lower side. I have not noticed any access freckles or moles, I have noticed existing moles and freckles have gotten slightly darker but nothing crazy.

I give MT2 two thumbs up in my book!

Lets assume u a smoker u eat fast food whatsoever this will also kick ur ass in the Future maybe and im sayin maybe im using mt2 since im 19 now im 28 yes it has its side effects but it depends on how much u Use of this Stuff meaning the Dosis of jabs u take each day everybody has a cycle theyre goin by mine goes for a week or 2 Every month so now what!!?? i hate people smart assin around all day Every human body reacts to it differently my hair turned black n its usually light brown 3-4times when i start my cycle i get nausea but its Not so Bad if u Pop a pill One hr before
Yeap u Also yawn alot strech and feel Kind dizzy sometimes ur face flush right After u took it but this will go away as soon as ur body knows how to work With this New Information thats why i say start slow dun overdose only coz u like to see some effects right away that way u gon be on the safe side
Excuse my grammar but i think u get the picture
    Greetings

I have used the tanning jabs on and off for over 5 year now I havnt had any problems with them at all. I also use the nasal and have no problem with it, only thing I can say is I get a deeper tan with the jabs compared yo the nasal spray.

    Hi there!

I’m very fair skinned, blue eyes and a red head. I would go on holiday burn and then go back the pale again. I would never get a tan unless it was fake tan from a bottle! I hate the smell of fake tan and how disgusting it looks when it wares off!

I seen a old friend and she was so golden brown! I commented on her tan and asked if she had been away and then she told me she uses tanning injections ……

Long story short kind off ha. So I bought myself a starter kit for 25 pound which came with everything I needed. It was weird at first injecting myself but you could hardly feel it! My first course was for 10 days and by going on the sunbed every 3 rd day I have no started to develop a tan!!! Like a actual beautiful golden tan! I’m so pleased with it! Yes it has given me more freckles but I love my freckles! It’s also tanned my skin underneath my freckles !

I use to always feel left out when I went on holiday with my friends or family as I would always come home as white as I went and ppl not being able to tell Iv just been on holiday in the hot sun for 2 weeks! Well now I can’t wait to go on holiday and try it out it full!

Once I have reached the shade of tan I want I will then drop my dosage and just maintain my colour !

    Hope this helps guys! Xx
